The art of leather braiding

Trenza Patria, Lomo de Yacaré, Crocodile Ridge with double braid

Leather Homepage

Doule braid with crocodile Ridge of twelve strings.

It is characteristic of Argentine, Uruguay and Brazil.

It is a very beautiful, rich braid

This braid ist not easy to do and it is not for beginners.

It ist difficult to hold the twelve strings , it should not bee to strong.

For an equal an soft braid you don´t have to pull to strong, the strings schould be lightly braided.

With a little patience, various sequences and combinations can be made, even a double ridge down in the center.

We will count from the left side to the right side.

First cross string No. 6 over stgring No. 7 to the right.

String No. 1 on the outer left is brought to the center

over 2 and under 2

and with a half twist under two (6 and 7) back towoard its own side (on the left)

We will do the same with the outer right string but

under 2 and over 2

with a halt twist under the strings in the middle (6 and 1)

from the left to the rigth

Over 2 and under to

from the right to the left:

under to and over to

This will be repeated till the end, changing the under 2 and over to from side to side.

from the left under 2 over 2

from the right over 2, under two

from the left over 2, under 2

from the right under 2, over to

and so on

Finally it will look like this:
